Taking the pulse of the Tivoli client community at Pulse used to be a normal part of my job. I was startled to realize that five years had past since my last visit. While I was not looking, Pulse expanded needed a bigger hotel, the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, to hold its 8000 attendees.
Like many technical events from IBM, Pulse had an array of sessions, demonstrations and networking opportunities. For me, the most value is from the discussions with the real people, the clients who use our software. They came ready to talk with questions, concerns and curiosity. I hope we all left with a more than we came with. I know I did.
DevOps, one of my current focus areas and the topic of my session, was a prime topic at Pulse. Based on the crowds in the sessions, there is lots of interest and lots to share. I, of course, went for the value and engaged is lots of discussions. Thanks to all who took the time to talk with me.
One of the best kept secrets of IBM events is the opportunity to network, face to face, would our IBM technical field and sales people. I made sure to reach out to as many as I could to share what I have been hearing and exchange the latest technical details with the IBM team "on point" with the clients.
For me, this also provided an opportunity to see friends that I had not seen in years, and to discuss what we all are doing now. Many of my colleagues from my days in Tivoli Services are still part of the that organization. The opportunity to network with both IBM and Client technical specialist is what makes events such as Pulse work.
