Overview: In this 3-day instructor-led course, students learn how to perform system administration tasks for the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA appliances, firmware V3.8.
The IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances allow you to simplify, accelerate, and enhance the security capabilities of your Extensible Markup Language (XML) and Web services deployments, and extend the capabilities of your service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure.
Through a combination of instructor-led lectures and hands-on lab exercises, students will learn how to perform various administrative procedures, from initial installation and setup, through ongoing maintenance of the appliances in production.
Students will learn about the available management interfaces such as the Command Line Interface (CLI), Web GUI, and the XML Management Interface. Using any of these interfaces, students will learn how to perform various administrative tasks such as firmware upgrades, monitor system performance, configure user accounts and domains, and much more.
This course applies to all appliances in the family of WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances, including:

WebSphere DataPower XML Security Gateway XS40
WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50

Learning Objectives: After completing this course, students should be able to:
Describe the key use cases and architectural scenarios for the IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances
Perform administrative tasks on DataPower appliances using the Command Line Interface (CLI), Web GUI, and XML Management Interface.
Download and upgrade the firmware on the DataPower appliances.
Create and manage user accounts and domains.
Configure Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to and from WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances Ensure high availability of DataPower appliances using load balancer groups and clustering.
Monitor the performance of the DataPower appliance using service level monitoring and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP).
Troubleshoot and debug services using the DataPower appliance’s problem determination tools, logs and probes.
Configure logging of messages to external locations.
Audience: This course is designed for administrators who install, manage, and monitor IBM WebSphere DataPower SOA Appliances.
Prerequisites: Before taking this course, students should be familiar with networking protocols, security, and XML.
