This week WebSphere MQ 7.5 has been announced. Here's the link to the announcement. The announcement page clearly describes the enhancements. Let's look at some of the some of the key points
- Changes to licensing model to WebSphere MQ Telemetry. That is once there is entitlement, there is no limit on the number of clients. Its important to note that WMQ telemetry was a included in WebSphere MQ 7.1 itself as an integral part requiring no separate installation. The telemetry clients are available via mqtt.org
- Managed File Transfer which was available as WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition product now an integrated optional feature of WebSphere MQ. This makes it easy to configure and use managed file transfers. There are also some enhancements too along with the integration
- Advanced message security which was available as WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security also included as part of installation. So message level encryption becomes far more simple to adopt in an application
- Improved application isolation, Enhancements to trail edition are other enhancements worth noting
Planned availability dates are the mid of June this year. Let's wait for the infocenter and the release for more information on WebSphere MQ 7.5.
