Simple can be better – the new MQ and MQ Advanced licensing

Effective from 9th May 2017 the MQ portfolio is being simplified to IBM MQ if you just want MQ, or IBM MQ Advanced if you want MQ plus any of the other capabilities, such as Advanced Message Security, Managed File Transfer and Telemetry. In addition to this the MQ Managed File Transfer Agent is becoming a free to use component of MQ Advanced, rather than a separate part for which additional 'per install' entitlement is required.
The MQ and MQ Advanced Idle Standby parts will remain for those using MQ in a High Availability configuration, and MQ Advanced for Developers will also continue to be available, with or without support, for development and unit testing of MQ applications.
Our Offering Manager, Leif Davidsen, explains all over on his wordpress blog. As Leif says, we have thought carefully about how we made this change. For customers with existing entitlement there is no change and you can continue to use your existing Subscription and Support entitlement to stay current with future releases and obtain support.
The announcement letter detailing the change can be found here.
