I thought that all of you customers might like to know what our design personas are doing for the holidays.
Samantha Daryn has been working flat out revising last-minute promotional materials for the big Christmas rush. Thank goodess somebody showed her how to make a local copy of the promotions program so that she could work while riding the EL. She's learned that she can go to the Replication tab and click Start Now to send all her data off.
She's looking forward to flying home to the Boston area for Christmas and spending a few days with her parents in Boxborough. She had a hard time finding anybody to take care of Elvis while she was away, so he's going to a kitty kennel and she feels a bit bad about that. After Christmas, she's going up to Vermont to snowboard for a few days with some college friends. She'll end her vacation by spending New Year's even at First Night in Boston with friends. Her New Year's resolutions include planning the Father's Day promo early this year, volunteering at the local animal shelter, and maybe finding time for a boyfriend.
Ted Amado is going to spend Christmas with his wife and daughter in the Fort Myers/Sanibel Island area of Florida at a golf and tennis resort. His Wife Victoria closed up the gallery for the week. His daughter Valerie is working on her tennis skills and the family is hoping that she'll land a tennis scholarship to college. When Ted's not playing tennis or walking along the shell-filled beaches of Sanibel, he'll be checking his mail via his palmpilot. He's also bringing his laptop, of course, I mean, it might rain, and if he couldn't play tennis he'd be bored without work to do. He's also planning to call into a few meetings with suppliers in China and Malaysia during the week.
On New Year's eve, he'll attend the party at the resort. He'll be joined not only by his wife and daughter, but by his parents, who have retired to the area in a condo that Ted bought for them. Ted's New Year's resolutions include trying harder to win the Merchandising Innovation award again, spend more time with his daughter, and see if he can get the IT department to support him using Lotus Notes on a Blackberry Pearl.
For Betty Zechman, as of tonight, the holidays are almost over. This evening, her daughter will come over with the two grandsons and they'll light the last candle on the menorah. Then Betty will have a quiet three-day weekend. She'll be back at work Tuesday morning, but it will be a quiet week, since Ted is on vacation. Betty will also be the only support person at work for the other 6 executives for whom she provides indirect support. Most of them are on vacation as well. Ted, and maybe a few of the others will still ping her from a palm pilot from time to time, but mainly she'll spend the week cleaning out everybody's mail files. She might even download a few of those cute "emoticons" that she has seen other people add to their Sametime chats.
For New year's she'll babysit the grandsons Ryan and Joey while her daughter and son-in-law go out. She'll have to write down a few New Year's resolutions. Some of hers will be to stop using her Inbox as a to-do list, and to give those repeating meetings a try again.
