Some labs to experiment with IBM Bluemix
If you are involved in Bluemix activities such as demos, meetups or hackathons, you know that there are a couple of reusable assets out there. I am myself leveraging quite often what is available on developerWorks, on github or in the Bluemix tutorials. Nevertheless, last weekend I was involved in a hackathon and I was asked to deliver an educational hands-on workshop to the participants. For this specific audience, I needed material to help them understand not only Bluemix services, but also Bluemix DevOps capabilities to support their hacking... [More]

IBM DevOps in action... Live Demo
I don't like keynotes in IT conferences. Why? Because most of time, someone with no technical background comes to entertain people during a long (too long) speech. It can be funny. Most of the time, it is not. The speaker is usually famous for something she/he did in the past. Most of the time, it is absolutely not related with IT. It's like a stand-up comedy show. But I don't attend IT conferences to be entertained. I am a geek. I want to see IT stuff. At the IBM Innovate conference, the keynote on Day 1 was different. So I must... [More]

DevOps Services in the Cloud: Agile Development
Earlier this month, Fariz Saracevic and I have co-authored an article on IBM DevOps Services and Agile Planning with IBM BlueMix. It is an introductory paper to explain how to start and configure an project for Agile development in the cloud in less than 5 minutes. http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/d-bluemix-devops-services-project/index.html We are interested in feedback on the article, and we would also like to hear from you regarding what other aspects of IBM DevOps Services we should address in other articles. To share ideas... [More]

Continuous builds for development teams using the IBM Agile ALM solution (Part 1)
Part 1: Set up and configure the Agile ALM environment for automated builds The IBM Rational solution for Agile ALM provides the environment to support teams in their day to day activities throughout an agile ALM projects. One key aspect of agility is to develop incrementally. A product increment is created at the end of each Sprint to demonstrate the new functionalities to the stakeholders. In this example, I am using Rational Team Concert ( RTC ) and a project based on the Agile ALM solution (JKE – Mobile Banking) to... [More]

IBM acquired UrbanCode to strengthen its DevOps offering
Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) are practices to help agile teams produce and test working increments. In ALM and Agile ALM, teams are relying on CI and CD to support their iterative, incremental approach, and to get feedback on the product under development on a regular basis. Yesterday, IBM announced the acquisition of UrbanCode. UrbaneCode Software focuses on continuous delivery and will extend IBM's DevOps strategy. http://www.urbancode.com/html/solutions/continuous-delivery/
