I do think that there is another reason to the decrease in OR blogging. There is definitely a trend where OR is being dissolved into data science (or analytics if you prefer) . For instance, INFORMS has become an analytics professional society in addition to its tradition role as an OR society. As a result, there are less specialized OR blogs, but there is also more OR in general data science blogs. Here are two recent examples.
This is a great read about how to hire a data scientist. They use an optimization problem (variant of Stiegler diet) to evaluate candidates. They even cite IBM optimization product (CPLEX) as an example of relevant tool. I would really recommend that read, even if CPLEX wasn't cited!
This is an introduction to robust optimization by a visiting data scientist at yhat, a company that so far focused on predictive analytics in Python.
