PyOpenCl is a great library if you want to use gpu computing and you do not necessarily want to rely on NVIDIA chips only. If you are fine targetting only NVIDIA chips, then you may consider PyCUDA instead of PyOpenCl. I provide instructions to install PyCUDA here.
Installing PyOpenCl on Windows can be tricky however. Here is what you can do, it worked fine for me.
Then you should be all set!
You can test your installation by running the demo
Note that I am asked to chose between using my Intel cpu, or my NVIDIA chip. I ran both choices to check everything was fine.
I could also run the demo notebook without any problem. There too I was asked to chose between one of my two OpenCl compatible chips.
This looks promising to me. I used my PyOpenCl installation to compute Mandelbrot sets more efficiently, see How To Quickly Compute The Mandelbrot Set In Python .
I hope this will help readers willing to use PyOpenCl and Anaconda on Windows. If you have a different Windows configuration, or do not want to use Anaconda, then you may get help from Inst
