Each valid client license of IBM CLM, CLM, RQM, RTC, RDM, JTS, RELM or IBM DOORS Next Generation includes a license to run one instance of DB2 Workgroup Server Edition (excludes z/OS).

If you get a message that your DB2 license is expired you might have installed a trial license – for example a trial license for DB2 Enterprise edition).

 

You can remedy this by extracting the license file for the bundled DB2 Workgroup Server edition.

So you finally got Data Integrator (DI) to bring in the exact records you needed.  You had a small celebration - nothing big.  Maybe a few balloons and party streamers.  But then you realize: "Oh no... All these records are in 'Draft' state, but I need them in an 'Active' state!" 

Your heart starts to thump as you envision having to go through these newly imported records one-by-one to activate them.  You decide to put off the inevitable by getting another cup of coffee.  On your way, you meet TRIRIGA Joe, on his way back from a TRIRIGA Application Development seminar.  He tells you what I am going to tell you here: "You don't need to do that!"

So... How can you get the records you just imported into TRIRIGA using Data Integrator out of a 'Draft' state and into an 'Active' state quickly and easily?                      

While there are multiple ways you can do this, the easiest way to do this might be by using an editable query.

First, you want to start by creating an editable query that shows the records of the type you want that are in a triDraft state.  The out-of-box 'triSpace - triDraft - Editable' query shows an example.   You will want to do a few things with the query you create:                                                                       

1. Make sure 'Editable' and 'triDraft' are specified under the 'General' tab's 'Options' sub-tab                                                                                 
2. Make sure that any fields you might like to filter on are listed in the 'Columns' tab
3. Make sure that any fields you might like to filter on have 'User Filter' clicked for them in the 'Filters' tab                                                               
4. Under the 'Advanced' tab, click 'Import State actions' and click 'triActivate.'
5. While still in the 'Advanced' tab, add a 'triActivate' action               
6. Be sure to save your query after doing 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 above                                                                                                   

Next: Run your query. After running your query, you will may want to do the following:

1. Filter so that only the records you want show. Reason: If your query results show more than just the records you brought in through Data Integrator or if there are some records you want activated and others you don't, filtering can help.
2. Adjust how many records show per page.  You will want as many records showing on one page as possible.  That way you do not have to repeat the 'Activate' action for multiple pages worth of data.        

And finally: Select the records you want to activate on the page and click 'Activate!'  If all the records you want to activate are on a single page and you want all the records on that page activated, click the button to select all records on that page and click 'Activate.'  If there are multiple records on the page that you want to activate but you don't want all of them activated, select only the records on that page you want activated and click 'Activate.' If your records are spread across multiple pages, go to each page that is present and repeat the process.

And you are done.  Before you even finish drinking that fresh cup of coffee you picked up!

To create a logical copy of your Tririga database schema, follow the instructions below.

Please use Oracle data pump for exporting database dump files. More information can be found here:

It is recommended to run these steps from your DB server with a privileged database user and it is recommended to stop the Tririga application beforehand.

1) Create directory object in Oracle where you want to download the dump.

2) Run the database export command (you will want to  use Oracle data pump for this as this it preferred by Tririga Support).
Run the command expdp as follows:

expdp <db_admin>/<admin_pw> DUMPFILE=<dpump_dir>:<filename>.dmp SCHEMAS=<schema_name> LOGFILE=<dpump_dir>:expschema.log

Substitute the variables <db_admin>, <admin_pw>, <dpump_dir>, <filename> and <schema_name> appropriately.
 

Notes on variables (You will replace the entire variable placeholder including the “< >” symbols):　

• <db_admin> = database user name (should be privileged user)　
• <admin_pw> = database user password　
• <dpump_dir> = Note pre-existing export directory or the one created in step 1.　
• <filename> = The file name format required to upload the database export to support requires the file name to start with the associated PMR number.  The PMR number normally has commas in it, those should be substituted with a period.  For example, PMR number 12345,123,000 would be used as the first part of the file name like this: 12345.123.000.filename.dmp　
• <schema_name> = Your Tririga data schema name (Default is tridata but may have been changed)

Starting in 3.5.1 a new BIRT engine was introduced with your TRIRIGA installation. This is BIRT engine version 4.6.0. To customize or create new reports, as well to convert your old BIRT 4.3.1 reports, you need the same Designer version.

This designer runs on Neon Eclipse platform and you might use your current java 1.8 with it (usually on old designer you needed a 1.6 32 bits to make it work).

Also this new version install software is optimized for MAC (in old versions a lot of manual steps were needed) and you can have it as an Application there now. For Windows it remains a folder in the place of your choice.

Another topic often raised is about "upgrading from 4.3.1 to 4.6.0". The fact is you can have both installed in your machine. They are separate install. The caveat here is you can not use the same workspace for the 4.6.0 if you already have a 4.3.1 installed, so you just need to rename the workspace used for the first time.

 

So let's start with what you need:

 Procedure
1. Go to http://download.eclipse.org/birt/downloads/ and select to download the All-in-One and you will see the page below. Download BIRT Designer All-in-One Report to a local directory. The directory name cannot include any spaces.
2. In the folder where you downloaded BIRT, extract the compressed file, open the Eclipse folder, and select the eclipse.exe file.
3. Select the workplace location where Eclipse stores your project files and select OK.

 

For Windows this is a simply zip file, that you can decompress anywhere and you will find the executable inside (eclipse.exe). On the other hand, for Mac it installs as an Application in the appropriate folder.

Towards the end of last year, I had the opportunity to sit in on a Maximo Anywhere class.  While I am a TRIRIGA Support Engineer, both Maximo and TRIRIGA use the Anywhere platform for their mobile solutions.  So for me, there was benefit in sitting in on the class since the process of configuring is the same for either product though the code base will be different!  So these tips could apply to either Maximo or TRIRIGA, depending on what you are using.  It is worth noting that Maximo has more mobile applications than TRIRIGA.   So I would like to share with you some basic tips that I learned in this class.

• Tip #1 - Always copy the original file before modifying or changing any files! There are some cases that depending on what you've modified, the only way to recover is to copy over the original file and add back in your changes.
• Tip #2 - Save early and save often! This is a good practice with any file you are dealing with.
• Tip #3 - Get to know the tool you are using.  It is recommended that when configuring your mobile screens that you use the eclipse tool instead of a text editor.  This is because not only can you edit your files here, but you can also preview them using an emulator.  Knowing the tool you are using can make your life much easier!
• Tip #4 - Know where to insert new code.I spent a few days reading through the code, which the was Maximo based and I work with TRIRIGA.  If you are not familiar with the code, it can be challenging to determine where you need to insert something.  Using the Outline section can help you find the section you need to add to.

As shown in the screen above, there is a section called Outline that will, like the UI, view sections of the code.  When you click on something in the outline, it will bring you to that section of the code.  Which will save you from having to search the code for the correction section.  Believe me, I am wishing I used that to help me find the Work Detail View as I ended up putting the new field I was trying to add in the wrong place!  But I learned my lesson!

• Tip #5 - Line numbers and Bookmarks.  You can show line numbers in the code that will help find problem lines easier.  If you are building a file and there is an error, it might reference a line number.  So showing the line numbers will make it easier to go to.  You can add a bookmark to where you might be adding something or where Support might have you add something.  This can make it easy to find where you added something.  You can enter a short description of what you are adding for future reference.

• Tip #6 - Never remove any code from the file!  If there is something in the code you are not going to use, it is better to comment it out using <!--    --> than to remove it.  It is much easier to comment something out and then, if you need to re-use it laster, all you need to do is un-comment it out.  But if you remove it, it will be harder to re-add it and remember how it was exactly set up.  So if you are not going to use something, comment it out!
• Tip #7 - Once you have opened Eclipse, you will need to manually start up the embedded server.  It does not start up automatically.
• Tip #8 - When previewing your work, use the Ctrl-Shft-J will bring up the Chrome Browser Console, which can be useful in troubleshooting.
• Tip #9 - Know what type of devices you are using.  If everyone is going to be using the same type of device, say all IOS devices, then it is easy - you only need 1 build server.  But, if you are going to have multiple device types, like Android and IOS or Windows and Android, or Android, IOS and Windows, then you will need to have a build server for each of those device types.

 

So those are some basic tips when getting started with configuring your Anywhere files.  I hope this will help you get around easier when configuring your Mobile solution, be it on Maximo or TRIRIGA.  And remember tip #1 and #2 - ALWAYS back up your files!  Save early and save often!

Q: What are the major Support Lifecycle milestones?

A: The major Support Lifecycle milestones are:

• General availability (GA) - Refers to the date that a new version or release of the product is available to all users.  A product version/release is not published to the Support Lifecycle web site until the GA date.
• End of Marketing (EOM) - Refers to the effective date on which a version/release (and associated part number) ceases to be available and can no longer be ordered via standard price lists.
• End of Support (EOS) - Refers to the last date on which IBM will deliver standard technical support for a given version/release of a product.
• End of Life (EOL) - Refers to the effective date on which a Software product, an Appliance or a Hardware platform reaches the end of its useful life.

 

Q: How do you determine if your installed software is still supported?

A: Search by product name or keyword using the Support Lifecycle Search tool.  You can also view a list of IBM Software products that will reach EOS in 2016 and 2017 via the IBM Software End of Support page.

 

Q: What happens when EOS is announced?

A: Often, there is a newer version of the software available for download.  In most cases, you’ll have sufficient time to plan for and install the latest version.  For more information on the lifecycle stages, including EOS, view this short YouTube video on the IBM Product Lifecycle and EOS.

The Rational Rhapsody Simulink and Documentation domains are not supported in this technical preview. You cannot report on data from these domains.　

The rich hover feature does not work for Design Management (DM) artifacts. When you hover over a DM artifact in a report, no additional information is provided.　

When you generate data from a Rational Rhapsody Design Manager project, and you use the Enable Global Index (LQE) for project resources from all configurations setting, the project is shown in the Limit the scope section in Report Builder regardless of what LQE data source you use: Lifecycle Query Engine, or Lifecycle Query Engine scoped by a configuration　

In Report Builder, configuration managed projects are shown in the Limit the scope section only if the data source is Lifecycle Query Engine(LQE) scoped by a configuration. 
By default, all the DM projects are configuration-enabled, and they are in the Limit the scope section regardless of what LQE data source you use: LQE or LQE scoped by a configuration. The System DM projects are always listed in the Limit the scope section. Don't select these projects for your report because they do not contain any artifacts.
