We are pleased to announce z Systems Development and Test environment V10.0 (zD&T), the next generation of Rational Development and Test Environment for z Systems (RD&T). zD&T offers flexible, software-based licensing for enterprise clients, and more current z/OS software levels, including z/OS 2.2. This means no more USB keys are required to improve software quality and enable a DevOps continuous testing best practice.
zD&T gives mainframe development teams relief from typical z System hardware access constraints by providing z System emulation software that enables actual z/OS software to run on x86-compatible hardware. This makes zD&T software and cloud a natural combination for mainframe development, testing, education, and demonstration activities. In fact, zD&T is part of IBM Cloud Managed DevOps, which provides zD&T customized and configured for each client on a scalable IBM SoftLayer Infrastructure.
New licensing options in zD&T 10.0 further support the transformation from physical to virtual, with software-based licensing options for enterprise users who may have data center requirements that are incompatible with the hardware-based licensing required in previous releases. With zD&T 10.0, there are three purchasing options:
zD&T V10.0 comes packaged with a z/OS 2.2 software distribution. New z/OS software includes IBM Explorer for z/OS Aqua V3.0 and z/OS Connect Enterprise Edition V2.0. The included z/OS Connect software helps you get started on API enablement of your mainframe assets on zD&T.
Updated z/OS software includes z/OS 2.2, CICS 5.3, IMS 14.1, Rati
zD&T 10.0 is scheduled to become generally available on November 17, 2016.
