Meet the finalists: The Watson Mobile Developer Challenge
Watson has come a long way since its Jeopardy debut. Watson is adept in a wide range of activities - creating that perfect cocktail – the Blue Hurricane – a big hit at the IBM Innovate conference; empowering people to take a more active role in managing their health and the health of their loved ones; working through a cuddly teddy bear to help with learning activities for your children; and assisting in the fight against cancer.
Watson is drawing large crowds at the IBM Innovate conference. The Watson Mobile Developer Challenge was launched on Feb 26 of this year, and the winners will be announced at Innovate. There were hundreds of submissions, and from those hundreds of submissions, the field has been narrowed to five finalists:
A Watson-powered personal trainer app that changes its recommendation as a person’s training progresses and/or the goal (e.g., bodybuilding competition) is approached, to maximize results.
A person app which can become an indispensable personal choice guide to the users by simplifying choices for a range of activities across banking, retail, hospitality and telecom.
An app that empowers individuals to take a more active role in managing their own health and the health of their loved ones by delivering a holistic view of the individual’s health and providing highly relevant and personalized recommendations.
Friendly Anthropomorphic Networked Genome (Fang) is a cognitive, cuddly plush companion, beneath which IBM Watson powers a customized experience assisting each child in development through a series of contextual interactions.
“The ultimate sales trainer” that analyzes a customer’s demographics, purchase history and wish list, as well as product information, local pricing, customer reviews and tech specs to provide the seller customized selling points unique to that customer onscreen or via text-to-speech on an earpiece.
On Monday, June 2nd, these top five finalists will present their ideas to judges in a live
