Accelerate Your Hybrid Cloud Strategy with Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence
Earlier this year, we announced the acquisition of EZSource, an Application Discovery company that allows companies to understand their business critical applications so they can effectively maintain and evolve these applications, and make them available in a Hybrid Cloud environment. Earlier this year, we also announced a new innovative product, Appl
Effective today, we announce Application Discovery and Delivery Intelligence (ADDI) , a first of kind product that offers enterprises the combined technology from EZSource and Application Delivery Intelligence. ADDI scans the overall application environment, including programs, scheduling information, databases, messaging brokers, and much more to help enterprises understand their business critical systems. Using other information sources, such as change sets from SCMs, and test code coverage, ADDI also helps enterprises to optimize the way software is delivered on a day to day basis.
Unlock: ADDI helps enterprises unlock business critical applications by visualizing and enabling impact analysis as a result of change, refactoring, or API enablement. This makes it trivial, for example, to understand that if a database table is modified, 15 related programs also need to be updated, or to understand how mobile applications interact with these mainframe applications. ADDI enables Organizations to estimate the effort of change more rapidly and accurately, make changes faster, with higher quality, while avoiding lengthy test-fix cycles. Our customers tell us that ADDI helps them reduce a change effort by up to thirty percent, while reducing time to size a change effort by up to eighty percent.
Empower: Many enterprises are concerned that the workforce maintaining their most business critical applications are in the process of, or are about to retire over the next few years. The systems left behind are often complex, and typically poorly documented, making it difficult for new hires to be effective. ADDI automates the production of precise and detailed documentation, which enables them to rapidly gain an accurate understanding of the structure of their applications. ADDI also produces accurate and consumable impact analysis from within the IBM Developer for z Systems suite of Integrated Development Environment (IDE) offerings. Our customers tell us that ADDI has helped them reduce onboarding of new employees from six to one month.
Appraise: Businesses rely on their business critical applications to never go down. ADDI aids in accomplishing this mission by enforcing coding standards, while also helping organizations to determine which test cases to run first as they incrementally develop software. ADDI also provides stakeholders with critical information to determine whether sufficient testing has been done to enable a low-risk release Our customers tell us that ADD helps them reduce test-fix cycles by up to fifty percent.
While we are immensely proud of what is being delivered in this release, our teams are hard at work on delivering more capabilities in the near term. Interesting work includes bringing operational data into the hands of developers, allowing them to understand critical information about how their applications are used in a production environment, including what transactions are most frequently run, response times and CPU time. By combining this information with analytics, we can enable enterprises to break down APIs and transactions so their composition can be understood, as also the causes for undesirable delays such as multiple DB2 transactions running simultaneously resulting in performance degradation.
ADDI integrates with the rest of our DevOps solution, including Application Delivery Foundation and IBM Ration Team Concert to bring enterprises a cone of a kind Cognitive Develops Solution. We, as always, continue to lead the pack. We brought you one of the industry’s first DevOps solutions on the mainframe, and we deliver the industry’s only cross-platform DevOps solution that works on the mainframe as well as distributed platforms. Our customers are delivering business capabilities that span systems of interaction and systems of record, and nobody but IBM can deliver on the needs of enterprises to develop with speed and quality across all these environments and platforms!
