10 ways to get social at #ibminnovate
We know big events are sometimes tough to navigate. And trust me, Innovate is going to be a BIG event. Fortunately for you, the social media team at Rational is here and ready to help you. We've made it a point to study up on everything that's going on to make sure we have (almost all) of the answers when you need them.
To top it off we have a few fun things you might want to check out if you're lucky enough to be joining us in Orlando - and even if you're not.
So, read on to find out all of the ways you connect to Innovate through social media. We're here and ready to help.
1 – Innovate conversations: This nifty little tool is currently our pride and joy. If you’re looking for one place to see everything social that’s going on at Innovate, let this page be your guide. On it you’ll be able to follow the buzz around #ibminnovate, see all of the new YouTube videos, find daily photos from Flickr, watch our Livestream channel, and see all new blog posting. Seriously, if any of your teammates can’t make it to the live event, this is the page you should be sharing with them so they can follow along – and find you in our photo streams: ibm.
2 – Innovate on Twitter: Your virtual concierge: Have a question? Let Twitter be your guide. Tweet to us @ibminnovate and we’ll do our best to find you the answer you’re looking for. Also, don’t forget to join the conversation by tagging your tweets with #ibminnovate.
3 – Ask the experts: On day 4 of Innovate, our experts – Walker Royce, Martin Nally, Capers Jones, Mark Wegman, and Kevin Stoodley – are opening the stage to take questions from you. You can go old school and ask these questions live from the audience OR, you can post your questions on Facebook, Twitter, or on this blog post and our experts will answer them live. Can’t make it to Innovate but still have a question for our expert panel? No problem. You’ll be able to watch our experts live from Livestream. So, go ahead. Ask ‘em your questions.
4 – Coolest Software Ever contest: We want to know. What’s the coolest place you’ve seen software being used? If you can show us the coolest, most awesome software ever, you might win an iPad 2 and an opportunity to go up against – or nominate someone to go up against – Watson in the Jeopardy! challenge. How do you enter? Post your picture in our Facebook app or send it to us directly at email@example.com with your name and a description. Need some inspiration? Browse our Facebook album and pick your favorite.
5 – QR codes everywhere: What’s a QR code? It’s that weird looking square posted to the right. Scan it on your smart phone and you’ll be taken to a mobile web destination. Be prepared. You’ll be seeing these weird little squares everywhere at Innovate. You’ll be able to scan them to get more information about products and solutions, but you’ll also be able to scan them to join the seQRet scavenger hunt.
6 – Livestream: We’re going to be Livestreaming a whole lot more than just the morning keynotes this year. You’ll be able to see a few select sessions, go backstage with Grady Booch and Watson, and see executive interviews for a few extra hours every day. You can watch the main stream directly from our aggregator or you can go directly to Livestream to find a specific clip you may have missed.
7 – Social media lounge: If you’re going to be with us live in Orlando, you should stop by the social media lounge to say hi. We’ll be in the solution expo directly to the left of the escalators as you come down, giving away a ton of free stuff. You’ll be able to pick up your exclusive I’M OPINIONATED badge ribbon, cupcakes, buttons, and more. If you know someone who’s a social media n00b, bring them by and the social media team will give them a quick rundown on why social media is so awesome.
8 – Foursquare and Facebook check-ins: This one’s super simple. Check in to Innovate on Facebook or Foursquare then stop by the social media lounge to pick up a prize.
9 – Daily blog posts: With 400+ sessions in four days, things go by at lightning-fast speeds. Check out this blog – the Invisible Thread, the blog you’re reading right now – for daily updates on what’ll be happening in the day to come (including last-minute session changes) and highlights of what you may have missed.
10 – Social media education: If you’re still a social media skeptic, or just want to brush up on some of the latest tools, stop by the social media lounge and ask for me (Rebecca) or my colleague Marcel and we’ll do our best to show you how we do what we do.
