Continous Delivery, Lightning Fast
Monday morning at Innovate started with an energizing General Session illuminating why it's a great time to be a technical professional. Software is shaping our world economy and the world is becoming programmable. Steve Farley, Vice President of Information Technology at Nationwide Insurance, opened up the session with an impressive report of his firm’s success going Lean and Agile. Next up, IBM Rational General Manager Kristof Kloeckner then introduced thought leaders who each gave five-minute lightning talks with insights into today’s key technology tran
If the lightning talks whet your appetite for more, tech papers provide more detail about these key subjects. Hardcopy printouts flew out of the Expo, but you can download yours now from the Innovate website.
Following the general session, standing-room only Mini Main tents brought these insights to the next level by sharing paradigms, practices and tools that are enabling enabling the specific technologies and disciplines touched on at the General Session.
From the mini main tents, four thousand technical leaders and practitioners moved forward to detailed sessions, sharing with peers about these technologies and disciplines in an afternoon of heads down. But first the Birds-of-a-feather lunches explored topics in an informal setting. Eager participants grabbed a boxed lunch and soda and watched demos, dialogued about features and discussed solutions to current issues.
Next up, the tech talk continued with breakout sessions and technical workshops. Industry activities abounded with several breakout sessions led by expert speakers in insurance, automotive, aerospace and financial services. Industry Forums in Defense and Energy featured experts discussing challenges, solutions, and future directions in those industries.
The Expo revved up again with Code Rally, DevOps and Jazz tech talks in dW Live! and, of course, the newest technology from IBM and Business Partners.
The Social Lounge was buzzing with a Social meetup hosted by Tech journalist Katie Linendoll. Answering tweets tagged #talknerdy, Katie brought her Google Glass and talked wearable tech, women in technology, and the intersection of sports and technology.
IBM Champions were honored in the GRUC Lounge during their nightly reception.
Open Labs provided participants self-guided, hands-on experience using Rational solutions, tools, and processes as they worked through various scenarios.
