DevOps at Innovate
One of the most exciting topics at Innovate 2013: The IBM Technical Summit will be thorough coverage of DevOps. "Exciting?" you ask. Absolutely. DevOps harnesses the value of end-to-end software delivery -- and IBM's recent acquisition of UrbanCode adds to the excitement.
As companies move to capitalize on market shifts, IBM's approach to DevOps will help you align the full range of resources to satisfy consumers like never before, faster, and with less risk. IBM is the leading vendor in this arena, with the tools and the know-how to help your organization use software delivery for competitive advantage to win in the marketplace. Below are just some of the ways you can explore the new DevOps at Innovate.
Mini Main Tents
The Application Development Mini Main Tent, which will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m. immediately following the General Session, is entitled "Stay Ahead with a Smarter Approach to DevOps"
Developers strive to deliver software rapidly while incorporating the needs of the business. Testers ensure what is delivered works as expected. And operations teams ensure systems are reliable and secure. DevOps helps bring these priorities from a linear into a more integrated relationship. It addresses culture, process and tools integration across the software delivery lifecycle, from ideation to delivery, with key stakeholders, including: customers, business owners, developers, testers, infrastructure and operations. The result: organizations establish an essential and empowering enterprise capability for continuous software delivery that enables them to seize market opportunities and reduce time to customer feedback. Don’t miss this session, filled with customer successes, information on new offerings, and an introduction to the recent IBM acquisition of UrbanCode.
In addition, Mini Main Tents for Agile, Cloud, and Mobile will be held on Monday at 11:15 a.m. which will provide further details on how DevOps relates to these important areas.
The DevOps Track in the Team Directions Stream has a wide variety of sessions to explore DevOps:
DevOps Hands-On Workshop - Increase Speed, Quality, and Business Agility While Reducing Cost and Effort Using uDeploy
Sunday, Jun 2, 12:30 - 5:30 p.m..
The most problematic stage of any Application Development Lifecycle is the deployment/release process. The phrase "It works for me" is the worst possible excuse for a failure of both development and operations teams to deliver on a value add to the business. Adopting IBM's release and deploy offerings into your Application Development Lifecycle will eliminate human error, reduce time to market, and ensure your application "works" instead of "works for me". In this workshop we will do a deep dive into the latest addition to IBM's release and deploy suite of products, uDeploy. uDeploy's pragmatic approach to solving real-world deployment problems is a testament to it's success in the marketplace. We will explore how uDeploy solves these complex deployment problems by walking you through the deployment of the Money That Matters JEE application and demonstrate how uDeploy fits into IBM's other release and deploy offerings that complement it's functionality. We are very excited to offer this workshop and give you the opportunity to learn about uDeploy and how IBM's release and deploy offerings will help you deliver more value to your business more rapidly than ever before.
