Are you a developer? Then you won’t want to miss Innovate 2013: The IBM Technical Summit. The jam-packed agenda has a ton of deep-dive technical content, but also great opportunities for you to stretch your mind and have some fun. Here are eight activities you won’t want to miss!
1. Meet the minds behind the products you use each day
Visit developerWorks Live! In the Innovate Expo and meet with technical experts who will share their tools, tips, tricks, and techniques on topics such as Leveraging the Jazz platform or products, Agile development, Mobile computing, DevOps, and Cloud. Check the schedule in the Expo to find lightning talks and more!
2. Jump in the fast lane
The speed limit in Disney might be more Mickey than Monte Carlo, but that all changes at the IBM Code Rally Challenge. Come show off your skills with Code Rally, a new programming-based racing game from IBM, puts your developing skills to the test as you program the logic of on-screen race cars. Building the logic from the ground up, you instruct your car to navigate the track, manage speed and fuel, dodge road hazards, and create obstacles for opponents. Use IBM groundbreaking products such as IBM WebSphere® Application Server Liberty Profile and Rational Team Concert, along with the award winning Eclipse IDE. Engage with other developers in a fun environment and compete to see whose artificial intelligence (AI) will create the fastest car.
3. Open your mind
Make plans for the Open Lifecycle Summit (4:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 2) and learn how lifecycle tools--tools that allow developers and systems architects to design, create, and maintain software--can work together, regardless of which company name appears on the software. Through a series of short lightning talks and panel discussions, industry leaders from open standards organizations such as OASIS and Eclipse will discuss how open lifecycle integration applies to key areas such as Agile, ALM, Cloud, DevOps, Mobile, Systems Engineering and beyond. RSVP now for this event. Join the discussion and get involved!
4. Click, create, code
Get your hands on JazzHub—the collaborative software development environment in the cloud. Drop in throughout the day for short “Do It Yourself” hands-on seminars. Jump in and help develop a JazzHub mobile app using JazzHub right here at Innovate.
5. Get certified
Walk out of Innovate with more than just ribbons.
Scrum is a widely used practice many organizations leverage as a starting point in their Agile transformation. Organizations that successfully implement Scrum deliver solutions to their customers faster and with higher quality. ScrumMasters play a key role in successful Scrum implementations, acting as the advocate for Agile teams by removing barriers and reinforcing Agile values. Held Saturday and Sunday, the ScrumMaster certification class will combine discussion, hands-on exercises, and lecture to introduce the concepts of Agile development leadership. Participants who successfully complete the training and the online exam will become Certified ScrumMasters. A separate registration fee is required for this training. Innovate attendees receive a 40% discount for this course. Learn more!

6. See the future
IBM Research and Rational development are sharing their secrets…and you are invited!
Innovate Labs include demonstrations and presentations that showcase forward-looking work from Rational development and IBM Research. Come visit to see future capabilities that could be in IBM products soon.
In Imagine sessions, held on Sunday, June 2, IBM researchers present a range of topics from general technology outlooks to specific investigations and prototypes to address the problems you will be confronting—sooner than you think. Top researchers and development experts are on hand to answer your questions.
7. Get your game face on

8. Relax, unwind and have fun
Developers need to relax too. The social lounge at Innovate is a place to kick back and be social. Watch LiveStream interviews, talk to social experts, or just lounge around. Nightly receptions in the Innovate Expo provide a place to unwind as you learn about the latest solutions from IBM and IBM Business Partners. And on the final night of Innovate, the entire conference will move to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where you can enjoy a private party. Relax and enjoy…you will have earned it!
