RuggedCom today announced their fourth SAFE validated solution with IBM: RuggedMAX. RuggedCom designs and manufactures Rugged communications equipment for harsh electrical and climatic environments.
SAFE is IBM’s standards-based industry software platform and business partner validation program that enables utility companies to operate more efficiently and accelerate the development of their smart utility solutions. A part of the IBM Smarter Planet strategy, the Solution Architecture for Energy and Utilities Framework (SAFE) brings the capabilities of IBM software to power solutions across all areas of a utility company, including plant operations, smart meters and personal utility management.
RuggedMAX, a high-performance, long range, secure family of products designed to extend IP networks over large distances to fixed and mobile users, joins RuggedSwitch, RuggedAir and RuggedServer in a quartet of IBM SAFE validated solutions.
The RuggedCom solutions integrated with IBM Tivoli Software are RuggedSwitch, Rugged Air and RuggedServer Smart Monitoring with Tivoli OMNIbus and Network Manager. It consists of event and alarm management, root-cause analysis, automated discovery, topology visualization and automated maintenance. Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus and Tivoli Network Manager monitor all events and alarms generated by RuggedCom devices in the communications network permitting quick root cause analysis of faults.
The joint RuggedCom and IBM proposition increases network performance and availability by comprehensive network management and real-time visualization of physical and logical connectivity. The principal benefit of this solution is enhanced monitoring and control capabilities for the electrical utility.
Congratulations RuggedCom on your fourth IBM SAFE validation!
