I'm very excited about the upcoming IBM® Informix® release! Not only are there are amazing new features in specialized areas like replication, warehousing, and time series data, but there are also many new features in the server that every Informix DBA can take advantage of. And let's not forget the OpenAdmin Tool (OAT) for Informix: the new release supports new features in the server but also includes major usability improvements and new functionality that was demanded by customers like you!
Jerry Keesee and John Miller will be introducing the new Informix release in a webcast on March 26, 2013 (Tuesday) at 10:00 AM PST.
A non-root installation does not require any system administration privileges or user and group informix accounts. This can simplify installation and deployment of Informix as an embedded solution, but the absence of root privileges limits the availability of product features. For more information, see Non-root installation in the IBM Informix Installing Informix on UNIX, Linux, and Mac OS X guide.
