IBM got to show its great advances in Software Defined Environments (SDE) at its Pulse2014 global conference from February 23rd-26th, but if you missed the Pulse conference or the SDE booth at Pulse, you're still in luck, as we have the story here for you!
The IBM SDE solution brief is really looking sharp! There's a fully integrated solution, showing advanced business process integration and full DevOps style application lifecycle management at the top of the solution, supported by industry standard OpenStack Heat orchestration to give line of business cloud users or consumers superior capabilities. There's also advanced on-premise and off-premise cloud deployment and management, at the bottom of the solution, with superior management of compute, storage, and network for cloud providers. There are even advanced policy capabilities to automatically scale or flex up the cloud size as demands increase, or to pack or stripe VM instances to meet cloud cost or performance objectives.
The elements of the IBM SDE solution in the brief are shown in two major sections, targeting two audiences:
Cloud consumer – those that develop, deploy, and maintain applications and manage line-of business applications in the cloud. This section describes application and infrastructure products, specifically IBM’s UrbanCode Deploy, and the IBM OpenStack Heat orchestration subsystem, and how they can be leveraged by cloud consumers.
Cloud provider – those that build and manage clouds SDE Infrastructure. This section describes IBM’s Software Defined Compute, Software Defined Storage, and Software Defined Network products, specifically Platform Cluster Manager Advanced Edition, OpenStack, Platform Resource Scheduler, General Parallel File System, and Software Defined Networks for Virtual Environments, and how they can be leveraged by cloud providers.
Each section explains the elements of the IBM SDE solution, and also has a “Put in Practice” section, that illustrates how it helps consumers and providers do their jobs more quickly, precisely, and stress free. Truly, the IBM SDE solution brief is bursting with great features!
But don't take our word for it, see it in action. Watch the exclusive IBM SDE - Next Generation Automation for Cloud solution demo video and read the IBM SDE Solution Brief on the center of the SDE Community main page, of the IBM Service Management Connect (SMC) web portal. Both the video and paper not only demonstrate advanced capabilities unmatched by others, but also give real world examples of how these capabilities can be applied to business situations.
Do not miss the opportunity to learn more about this latest innovation. You'll be impressed with IBM Software Defined Environments.
