Riding the Conference Wave

Champions, it seems as though conferences come in waves. The first part of the year swamped us (enjoyably) with IBM Connect and IBM InterConnect, where we had great IBM Champion attendance and speakers. I loved getting to meet (or see again) so many of you across our business areas.
As you know, we had some great activities for IBM Champions at those events:
It was amazing to me how many sessions were given by IBM Champions and how well attended and well received they were. I wasn’t surprised, but I was impressed.
In the near term, I know we have quite a few user group events that you’re all working with, speaking at, and attending from ICON US to Social Connections to IDUG. And many more, I'm sure: I’d love to hear a roll call of where you’re headed (share in the comments or in social media) so we can help draw attention to opportunities for others to meet with or learn from our Champions!
The next wave of IBM conferences is also quickly approaching and we’re starting our planning for these.
Two coming up right around the corner are IBM Vision (May 9-12) and IBM Amplify (May 16-18). If you’re a Champion planning to attend either of these, please let your Champion team lead know. We’d like to work with you to get the IBM Champion discount applied where we can and we’d like to let the conference team know if you’ll be writing about the conferences so they (and we) can extend your reach.
In the fall, there’s IBM Edge (Sep. 19-22). This conference has expanded its reach for this year to embrace much more content for those designing infrastructure with cloud and cognitive in mind.
The call for speakers has just opened, and as always, I encourage all IBM Champions (and those who hope to become Champions in the future!) to submit sessions. Registration opens May 2, and Champions interested in attending, please get in touch. We’ll have the IBM Champion discount and we’re actively working with the conference team to add other special activities and acknowledgements for the IBM Champions at the conference. But, a lot of that depends on how many Champions are attending and speaking.
Highlighted Developer Events
Of course, there are so many other events beyond the big conferences. I've already mentioned a few of the user group events, but there are also developer-focused events, from hackathons to meetups, that can be great for expanding your skills into new areas or offer an opportunity to share your knowledge. I’d love to hear what conferences, user group events, or other events you’re attending, speaking at, organizing, or interested in and what you’d like to see from us at those events.
