I write this post with mixed feelings. The past year and a half of being the IBM Champion Program Manager (AKA Champion Wrangler) has been nothing short of amazing for me, and I've truly enjoyed working with the wonderful IBM Champion managers in each of the different product areas: Beth Flood, Sarah Cogley, Linda Grigoleit, Oliver Heinz, Tracey Burton. Over the past year I watched as we became a team, working toward the same goals, ensuring that the IBM Champion program continued. Protecting the integrity of the logo and what it stands for. Finding new benefits. Making the right connections for and with the community.
I've also enjoyed getting to meet so many of the IBM Champions across all the different product lines. Those interactions were the highlight of my job! So as you can imagine, I'm a little sad that I'm about to say goodbye to this role.
There are two pieces of good news though:
1) I'm not going very far.
2) I have a really GREAT replacement already lined up.
So where am I going?
I "grew up" in the part of IBM formerly known as Lotus. I've bled yellow for 15 years in various roles, from Technical Writer to Agile Development Manager. I've coveted the ESS Community Manager role for many years, since my good friend Joyce Davis held it, in fact. When Oliver made his move out of that role, I finally had the opportunity to go for the job I have wanted for the last 4 years! What a great opportunity! Because of my time in the YellowVerse, and my role as the IBM Champion Program Manager, I already have established relationships with many of the community members, so I was a natural fit for this position! I'm thrilled that my new manager, Penny Hill, gave me the opportunity to make this move. It feels like I'm going back to the mothership.
In this new role, I'll be responsible for supporting User Groups, who are the life and soul of our community, as well as customer councils, the digital community, and of course, the IBM Champions for ESS. You will see me at many User Group meetings in the ESS community, and I'll be working closely with the other IBM Champion managers, and our new "head wrangler" to ensure that the IBM Champion program thrives.
Who's the new IBM Champion "Wrangler" ?
Meet Libby Ingrassia! Some of you might recognize that name. While she’s new to being an IBMer, Libby has a long history with IBM software, including time as an IBM certified instructor and business partner and frequent speaker at both IBM and user group events. At that time, Libby’s focus was in collaboration software: she wrote certification books for Notes and Domino, ran e-Pro Magazine, and helped launch the site that is now SocialBizUG.org.
Libby returns to the IBM community after taking time off to finish a graduate degree and have her now-2 ½ year old twins, as well as taking some time working as a high school English teacher, communications director, and as managing editor of a local lifestyle magazine. You can find her on Twitter @notesgirl.
