This weeks announcement of Google's Inbox (http://www.google.com/inbox/) made me think about IBM's mail next (again).
Both systems are looking for an answer to the e-mail overload, but where can IBM's Mail Next distinguish itself from Google Inbox?
This is a pure theoretical exercise, since I don't have one or the other client yet :-)
It probably is not the search and triage mechanism.
Is also it not the "actionability" --> take actions direct from the e-mail.
Mobile first : check.
The difference I see is the following:
Google (Inbox) is focused on serving you as an individual, combined with Google Now it comes closer and closer to a PA.
IBM (Mail Next) is about collaboration, who is waiting for me and vice verse.
And actually that fits nicely with IBM's message about Social Business --> Collaboration is key.
Which brings me to another question, will you get better results if you support each individual to perform better or when you support collaboration ?
Microsoft also has joined the inbox cleaning effort:
