Abstract

Do not Migrate system maps for Sterling Gentran:Server for Microsoft Windows Migration to a new machine

Body

This is a caution note for those customers who choose to migrate from an older version, after installing a newer version of Gentran:Server onto a new server (machine). The migration document states that you can bring over templates, which is true. But this means import, export, print, and screen entry templates (maps). The newer version has newer system maps (templates) that need to be used, and if you copy the entire TransObj folder from the older version you over lay the newer objects and this will cause issues when processing. My advice is to choose the maps (.TPL objects) to migrate over, and do not choose any system maps (templates). The same is true for the 997.tpl's; use those from the newer version of the software.
