I’m really excited about the upcoming SportsHack challenge that we are kicking off. Starting today, developers will be able to access fitness data from a wide range of devices and services. We aggregate data from dozens of wearable devices, such as Fitbits, Nike FuelBands, and Jawbones as well as apps like RunKeeper and MapMyFitness. If you have one of these devices, you can contribute your data and compare your history with other participants.
The best part - the SportsHack is actually two challenges in one. We’re going to select winners in Best Mobile App and Best Data Insight categories. So whether you prefer to write code or do data analysis, you’re equally welcome to participate.
Behind the hackathon is a cool new service called the Wearable Fitness Service. The APIs for this service provide the primary content for the hackaton.
Oh, and as a teaser, my Impact keynote is going to leverage the Wearable Fitness Service, and I hope to unvail the first in my line of designer wearables.
The winners will be announced at Impact 2014 on April 30th in Las Vegas. Good luck!
