Good one, Fred! I don't get why FIFA refuses to use the latest technologies in matches. You would think everybody wants to play a fair game.

Thanks Peter. The objection that FIFA has given so far is that if they require it at the World Cup level, then soccer games at all levels will also need the technology (which would be great if IBM/Informix can get that business). Remember that there are Leagues all around the world at many levels, e.g. Premier League, First Division, Second Division, etc. That argument doesn't really go too far because they can always only have the technology at the highest level, i.e. the World Cup or European Cup, and work themselves downwards over time.
Remember also that other sports like baseball has been very resistant to instant replays for many years as well.
