Really a great event. Kudos to Speakers and organizers. Its been more than 2 week, and I have been meaning to write about it. Folks, this is by all means the best event that I have attended in my professional life. The entire program was crafted in a way that provided me with opportunities to move on.
I got the 1st mail from IBM on Jan 27, 2011 titled 'Show the world the way ahead', same day I submitted my idea through mail. The initial evaluation for me was at Chennai IBM office during Aug. 2011. It was very interesting and the judges showed keen interest.
Developer SuperStar 2011, was a 2 day event for me. I reached IBM Bangalore on 14th afternoon. The 30 minutes presentation got over by 4.30PM. Judges comments were supportive especially that of Ananth Joisa , Dulles Krishnan and Sudhir Sastry.
The winners were honored in a grand ceremony on 15th Dec., at Taj Vivanta,
The arrangements at the Venue were really good. Each one of us was provided a stall, wherein the visitors can come and interact with us. Every visitor got a booklet containing details of Finalists and Judges along with an introduction on Developer SuperStar event. More over the lady at the counter was very courteous.
The inaugural address was impressive and I could also take few photographs. I also could get sometime chatting with some of the speakers and other attendees during the tea break. Also could show several visitors, how to access enterprise reports using any mobile phone with great graphics and drill-down reports.
All the 3 IBM sessions were very interesting. The following were very thought provoking and interesting. Workshops were in-depth sessions.
1-Spoken Web: Concept, Technology and Platform by Nitendra Rajput
2-Building Watson, An overview of DeepQA by Nandakishore Khambatla
3-IBM Mobile Platform by Saurabh Agarwal
Visitors participated in all these asking very interesting questions to the speakers. Visitors also got a glimpse into IBM research and IBM smarter plant during the days sessions. I Also experienced the wonder of Watson, the ingenious IBM innovation at a dedicated kiosk and played CityOne, the gaming sensation from IBM at a dedicated console.
The most surprising for me was the keen interest shown by the visitors gathered there. I could observe, almost pin-drop silence through-out the day, and utmost discipline.
The food was hot and spicy and nicely decorated. The event organizers had taken special care to select a menu, I think. There was ample space to enjoy the meal and discuss on hot and cold topics. Overall, I had a very fulfilling experience and look forward to attend the next edition.
