Working with Red Hat, we continue to expand our support for new IBM POWER8 systems hardware and features. Our latest linkage with Red Hat revolves around the exciting new IBM Power System LC family of servers, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2.
Just as IBM supported the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.1 Beta within the Power Development Platform (PDP) program (Power Cloud), we’ll be doing the same with RHEL 7.2, but as an open Beta, available without Promo Code. For no-charge cloud access for RHEL 7.2, or other Operating Systems on Power systems (Linux, AIX, or IBM i), go create a reservation and start your adventure at the PDP!
Once Red Hat declares general availability of the 7.2 distro, support will be available for the IBM Power System S822LC, and S812LC as was outlined in the IBM Statement-Of-Direction (SOD) for Red Hat Enterprise Linux. One of the key features will be the bare-metal support afforded by RHEL 7.2.
So, to learn more about this free IBM system access, or to create your own personal reservation for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 Beta on a POWER8 server, go here, then go to “Programs” to get started, and begin your latest journey on POWER8 Systems!
