Presentations from the popular Linux on Power for ISVs Technical Symposium that was held at IBM Hursley, UK last week are now available in the Folders section of the PowerLinux community (click on the Folders tab in the Files view or just use this short link http://ibm.biz/BdRrdm). The event was hugely successful with the theatre jam-packed with over 60 attendees including 47 ISVs and technical specialists from IBM and IBM's distributors, Avnet, Arrow and Azlan ISI.
Key note was from Jeff Scheel, who was excellent as always, and gave a great overview of the Linux on Power journey, the huge number of key announcements this year and why the platform is so relevant for ISVs. We also had excellent presentations from Nvidia, on why they joined the OpenPOWER consortium, and a number of ISVs and IBM partners who already market their solutions on Linux on Power explaining why they chose the platform and their great experiences with it.
We also had some great technical presentations from Paulo Tavares from the Linux Technology Centre, IBM Brazil and Deepak Narayana from ISV Enablement, IBM Raleigh on the fantastic IBM Software Development Kit for Linux on Power, outlining its key features and how it's an essential tool in getting the most out of the platform.
Our local expert Dan Martin presented a short pitch on some hints, tips and gotchas he's learned from working on the platform that should be invaluable to newbies, and Chris Bailey gave an excellent overview of the performance advantages and key features of the IBM JDK on Power which was very well received and generated lots of great follow-up conversations.
Unfortunately, we can't reproduce the networking conversations that the event allowed, (feedback has been very positive, with many saying it gave them that 'aha' moment, when they suddenly got why IBM is doing this) but you can hop over to the files section and download the presentations, and hopefully add to your increasing knowledge of PowerLinux.
All the best,
