Here is a small posting about a problem I have seen last week.
A user tried to roll back his BPM installation. The upgrade itself to BPM 8.5.7. CF2017.03 succeeded but later, for any reason the customer wanted to roll back to the pre-upgrade version.
From IBM Installation Manager he called the roll back option but received following exception
I requested the rollback.log file from customers environment (IBM Installation Manager) and could see the error:
Error during "post-install configure" phase:
CRIMA1025E: Cannot create symbolic link "
for target file "jcontrol" It already
exists for "../jre/bin/jcontrol".
Checking for the link in the file system confirmed that output

So, what is the current problem here?
The problem is likely that during the roll back /data/apps/bpm/appserver/java/bin/ControlPanel@ -> jcontrol* link is created again and again and because of that the rollback cannot be finished
The IBM Installation Manager try to delete the file from <install_root>/java/bin/ControlPanel but that failed and because of that the symbolic link should be recreated – that failed because it is still there !
We are not 100% sure but we have never seen such a behavior in a windows environment, likely it only happens in a Linux env.
You can run into the issue when using the IBM Installation Manager UI as well as the command line utility imcl .
The workaround that can be used in such a situation:
Start a 2nd session on the server, and while running the rollback command on one, in the 2nd session, monitor and deleted the ControlPanel link a few seconds after it would show up.
The link was re-created 3 times during the whole process, but finally the rollback command finished successfully.
That issue needs further investigation, but keep this workaround in your mind !
