IBM is pleased to announce the availability of Db2 DevOps Experience for z/OS on November 23rd. Db2 DevOps Experience allows organizations to bring mainframe applications to market faster, with lower costs and less risk. It is a role-based Db2 for z/OS platform that allows development teams to implement DevOps practices by automating and standardizing tasks while administrators ensure that company standards and business rules are protected.
Using Db2 DevOps Experience, Db2 environments can be created/deleted as needed by application development teams in a controlled, secure environment while freeing up valuable time and effort of the database administrator. Other unique features include:
Cognitive discovery capabilities to identify schema application components
Intelligent DDL editor that prevents coding unauthorized changes, saving time and resources
Role-based system for administrators to create teams, environments and permissions with review and approval of change requests
Rule generation and enforcement mechanism for schema attributes
Ability to integrate schema management into an existing Continuous Delivery process
Source-controlled storage, retrieval, and versioning of Db2 application objects using Git
Provides necessary Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to automate processes via continuous integration or continuous delivery tools such as Urban Code Deploy (UCD), Jenkins, Bamboo and others
Db2 DevOps Experience built is on Zowe, the first open source framework for z/OS that helps organizations continue their digital transformation to better serve the demands of their customers and differentiate themselves from their competitors.
