IBM's Spoken Web as innovation is a beacon of hope for the millions deprived and physically challenged or less abled to access 'technology' for its purpose: to serve. It is deserving of India's FIRST National awards for innovation.
World Wide Telecom Web (also called as Spoken Web or Telecom Web) is “voice extensible markup language”, a cousin of the hypertext markup language used on conventional websites that allows a website to be built and operated more or less by voice alone. It's remarkable as an extension of automated voice response call. Put together by IBM Research Lab team in India, is one of IBM's “Big Bets”—projects with an investment of the order of $100 million over five years in anvil.
