From Tracy Hepler-Olsen, MBA for Team Discovery
I have to admit that the name "Extreme Blue" suits the experience! After being at IBM for only 4 days, we were already presenting our project to the VP & CTO of Information Management!! We then spent the next two weeks in lively, animated discussions hammering out about nearly every aspect of our solution. There was one day when our project team was in our cube having such a heated and energetic debate that other interns in our area started selecting which member of our project team to root for.... It was challenging and complex at times, but it also helped our team to bond and build a strong team spirit. It definately worked! After being at IBM for 14 days, all four members of Discovery understood the business problem and why our solution is important. We also had developed a solid architecture and were ready to start coding! If that is not extreme, I don't know what is!!
The technical interns have given their all over the past two weeks to get multiple systems running as well as to code the core of our solution. I have spent my time working through the details of the UI use cases and perfecting the ever-so-important 4-minute pitch! I can't believe that today, the end of our 5th week of Extreme Blue, how much we have managed to accomplish! I must admit that this is an extrodinarily unique internship experience that has provided invalueable learning, teamwork and management experience as well as truly delivered on its name, "Extreme"!!
