As an IBM solution architect focused on Smarter Commerce and the IBM Bluemix PaaS offering, I've recently discovered the applicability of one of the Bluemix SaaS services to key data mining business scenarios for Smarter Commerce. There are several data warehouse packs included in the IBM Analytics Warehouse service (formerly BLU Acceleration) that provide capabilities to use with Data Mining applications based on pre-built warehouse packs for Customer Insight, Marketing/Campaign Insight and Supply Chain Insight, all included in the Analytics Warehouse service. The packs are accelerator add-ons for a Data Warehouse solution and come with physical data models and sample reports based on specific business analytics scenarios and are designed to reduce data warehousing project time, business risk and deployment cost, and enable users to build an organization-wide data warehouse covering many analytical subject areas.
An example Bluemix application is available that analyzes customer churn in a telecom industry example using customer account and service call usage based on the open source WEKA data mining algorithms together with the IBM Analytics Warehouse service using the Customer Insight warehouse pack.
More education and resources on the warehouse packs are available thru the Analytics Warehouse SaaS service documentation in Bluemix, as well as the following:
