First, Milinkovich sees runtime as a biggie. Swordfish is one such component, which is an enterprise service bus (ESB) that helps organizations deploy service-oriented architecture applications, and will be announced this week. Also in runtime, Jetty, a lightweight Web server, is now an Eclipse project and may generate interest among attendees at Eclipsecon.
Second, Milinkovich sees modeling as next big theme for Eclipsecon 2009. He said Eclipse Foundation is considering eight new project proposals that work with EMF.
Third, Milinkovich said developing mobile applications with Eclipse is a growth area. The Pulsar Initiative is a new project that will create a common platform for developing applications for Motorola, Nokia, Research In Motion (RIM), and Sony Ericsson smart phones.
Fourth and finally, Milinkovich said the conference will highlight so-called "e4" technology, which is the next major release of the Eclipse platform.
