When we last left our friends, Harriet and Christoph at the fictitious Future Chips International, it was apparent that trouble was brewing. (See Part 1 here.)
IT and business are both dedicated to the organization, but there have always been preconceived notions about who owns the analytical process.
For Christoph (our business analyst), he expects IT, the owners of the data, to manage the reporting and analysis. He has other important matters to attend.
For Harriet (our IT expert), she is finally pushed to the brink by these entitled business users who are unable to help themselves. After all, analytics is for everyone.
Part 2 takes a bit of a dark turn for our protagonists. We neither condone nor encourage the nefarious acts undertaken by Harriet. We think her actions might actually end up coming back to haunt her.
Stay tuned for Part 3. Will Christoph get his revenge or will they learn how to work together for the common good of the organization?
To see how the story ends, register for the upcoming IBM Innovations in Business Analytics Virtual Launch Event on March 7, 2012.
Do you have any interesting anecdotes of this IT vs. Business rivalry that occurs inside of your organization? If so, how have you been able to resolve the differences?
