Abstract

Announcing the Availability of IBM Business Automation Workflow

Body

At the end of January, a very important announcement was made around the creation of a new market focused IBM organization, IBM Digital Business Automation, and the offerings it manages. The IBM Automation Platform for Digital Business brings together our process capabilities (IBM BPM), case management (IBM Case Manger), content platforms (ECM), capture (Datacap), business decisions (IBM Operation Decision Manager) as well as a new category called tasks that include robotic process automation.

Today's exciting announcement is around two of those areas, where we have begun the journey to bring together our industry leading process and case capabilities into a single offering called IBM Business Automation Workflow.

Business process and case style solutions have always been a spectrum of work patterns with case representing the need for the creation of long lived containers of data, content, teams, tasks, conversations, and auditable history along with the requirement for a certainly amount of flexibility on how the case work is actually performed and process being the way you can create structured activities that involve people and systems as data and content is moved around in a repeatable and auditable way. Although many case tasks are simple to do items, the majority actually kick off these structured business processes with the case itself orchestrating how and when.

Although today's announcement is mainly around the new pricing and packaging of our "Workflow" offering, we are busy bringing our case and process products even closer together with the goal of providing our new and existing clients with the most advanced workflow capabilities on the market and ensuring they complement the broader automation platform and the services it offers.
