Hi,
Recently a switch failure caused us to look SAN connectivty.
I am trying to add the errnotify object for situation whereby a switch fails or port fails or the FC cable is loose or disconnected. Which error label should I be putting in as errnotify for ODMadd ?
I am thinking a disconnecting of the cable to simulate it.
Does anybody have thelist of FC errors for most common errors ? Thanks.
regards,
Thomas

Hi All
I finally got some time to listen to the replay/recording of Monitoring and Analysis of AIX, VMM & I/O and recommend this to anyone and everyone with an AIX instance/interest. Yes there are 3 parts they are large to download and each runs for about an hour, but this is really good performance information.
These and other recordings hosted by the AIX Virtual User Group make great resources available when you have time.

Hello On February 5 IBM announced the latest line up in our Power Systems stable. We have refreshed the product range to include the new POWER7+ based processors. Come along and hear about these additions. The session will give an overview of the POWER7+ technology, new models and features. The session will have a definite technical flavour and is aimed at those interested in the technology or involved with the technical selling of Power platforms. Please email me if you wish to attend. Tuesday 5 March, Majestic Centre, Wellington. 10.30 to 11.30. regards Roger Roger Brown Power Systems Technical Sales Specialist Systems Technology Group IBM New Zealand Limited Auckland, New Zealand

It's great to see the new low-end POWER7+ models announced, and the new Model 760 in particular. But one thing I don't understand in this new Model 760: Why introduce Capacity On Demand upgrades for cores but not memory ? CoD can be a great thing where I can turn on (and pay for) additional machine capacity when I need it, rather than pay for it all up-front. But in all other POWER Systems with COD features, both cores and memory are available with COD. Additional memory is almost always needed when cores are added to a machine, especially in these days of highly virtualised machine environments. I don't know whether the decision to do this was a technical one, or a marketing/sales driven reason...

The past two years have been major events in the world of UNIX. In 2009
UNIX celebrated 40 years, and last month was the 25th birthday for AIX.

The zsnap command is a supplemental tool used by AIX support personnel to gather debugging data. Built around the standard AIX snap command, the zsnap command gathers additional information that the snap command does not provide. You can also use the zsnap command to send a testcase directly to IBM from the machine that generated the testcase data. If needed, the zsnap command can fork multiple calls to the snap command, which results in quicker data gathering than if done via snap.

Thanks to Joe at the VUG for this one:
Hi Everyone, At the June webinar I mentioned a new set of IBM courses that were being offered. These are FREE of charge, NO COST, COMPLIMENTARY classes. They are a bit like the AIX VUG Webinars with each class having a single focus. I have put a link to the material as well as the web site on the AIX VUG Wiki. It is just above the Next Sessions heading and is labeled Power Test Drive Course Information. Check it out for more focused education from IBM.

level, running the "amepat" tool to predetermine good AME settings and
its effect and then how to monitor it while its running.
