Since their acquisition in early 2012, Green Hat's suite of Integration Testing products have become a solid contributor to IBM Rational's DevOps capabilities, in the area of continuous testing. Watchers of this fast-changing space will be interested to know that IBM have just released new versions of both IBM Rational Test Workbench (containing the developer/tester tool, Rational Integration Tester) and IBM Rational Test Virtualization Server.
Key features include:
The new Application Topology Discovery feature to quickly discover services used by the system under test. Use this information to rapidly build out virtual environments without needing to spend time modelling the environment first.
Rational Integration Tester now has support for the Internet of Things in the form of an MQ Telemetry Transport (MQTT). MQTT is a lightweight messaging protocol designed for machine-to-machine communication. Rational Integration Tester can test, record, and virtualize messages sent over MQTT, including MQTT secured by SSL.
Rational Integration Tester now has a full range of features aimed at service testing and virtualization in SAP environments. SAP ECC and PI systems are supported across ABAP and Java™ stacks (exact features supported differ based on type of SAP system). Users can synchronize against PI systems to build a logical/physical model, test and virtualize using the RFC and XI 3.0 protocols, record and test using IDocs.
For details of all of the new features and enhancements in 8.6.0, see the release notes for Rational Integration Tester, Rational Test Virtualization Server, and Rational Performance Test Server, Version 8.6.0
