If you have been following our annual IBM Pulse event, you've probably heard that IBM announced that all of its cloud services and software will be based on open cloud architecture. Dave Lindquist, IBM Fellow, CTO of Tivoli Software, discusses why the combination of open standards and open source are critical factors to the success of cloud computing in his blog - For cloud computing, open means agile.
IBM SmartCloud Control Desk featured heavily in our Pulse announcements for this year. SmartCloud Control Desk v7.5.1, is available as of February 2013. This release is focused on improved usability, analytics and automation to improve productivity and responsiveness of IT.
IBM SmartCloud Control Desk also now integrates with IBM Endpoint Manager. A user can request a license via SmartCloud Control Desk which IBM Endpoint Manager can then go out and provision. This gives our clients the ability to set up their own internal Enterprise app stores, a key to license compliance.
The release also provides new Smarter Infrastructure management capabilities – a map integration feature provides impact analysis and a way to view events on a topology view. This gives our clients the ability to analyze whether incidents are occurring in a particular geographical area, and plan for changes to be rolled out with minimum impact.
