IBM Tivoli Common Reporting is an optional component of Jazz™ for Service Management that offers a powerful service to create, edit and customize the Cognos reports.
From the 9.3 release IBM Tivoli Workload Scheduler, has been developed two analytical reports:
Analysis Job Duration Estimation Error
Analysis Job Duration Standard Deviation
The first report helps the users to identify the jobs that have an high estimation error allowing you to intervene beforehand on those jobs.
This report shows the average estimation errors divided in 3 categories: Frequent Error, Infrequent Error e Accurate, that are determined by an interval that is customizable by the user in the prompt page.
In the first page, there are shown the percentages of jobs in each category.
It is also possible to do a drill-down search to display all the jobs that are in that interval. Immediately a chart, that has every job of that category and the error in percentage(%) will visualize.
At a later stage, it will be possible to display the chart of each job for seeing the trend of every run of these job and analyze the actual duration (graph 1) and the estimated duration ( graph 2).
The second report presents the same structure of the first: a prompt page, where the user can insert different filters before throw report: for example, we can apply a filter for workstation, for job name, date range etc….
This report is useful to identify the run that had a greater duration.
This is a report that shows the variance in job duration. The variance is calculated as a percentage over the average and the jobs, according to which variance level, will be presented as follows: High variability, Medium variability or a Low variability.
The user can decide through two constants, when for him a job can be defined with high variability, medium variability o low variability.
At this point, it is possible to do a drill-down search and to display information about which jobs belong to that category and information as Average Actual Duration, Standard Deviation Actual Duration, Standard Deviation/Average in percent (%) are visualized.
In the final part, it is possible to display the chart for each job to understand which are the job instances that have a very high Elapsed Time.
Note: Jobs contained in the reports are those that had a higher planned duration than 0 and have ran successfully.
These reports allow you to identify jobs that have abnormal behavior, and with other features of the Workload Automation as the Predictive Timeline and the What-If Analysis , you can analyze what impact these can have on your Workload and provide predictive capabilities that anticipate possible problems and support informed decisions about scheduling and balancing.
