WebSphere Cast Iron cloud integration 126.96.36.199 was released recently. This is a Mandatory fix pack to apply, you can refer to this announcement, and download the relevant form factor applicable to you.
There was a refresh to Studio build recently to address a scenario where-in there is an error when trying to publish projects having nillable fields being mapped.
Along with this 6109 release, there was a refresh of the following Type II aka CDK connectors; Force.comBulkAPI, Taleo, RightNow.
Pls note the minimum Studio version required to use these three refreshed connectors, is 188.8.131.52.
Last week, a currency update of Force.comBulkAPI connector was released and uploaded to the community repository. The latest Force.comBulkAPI connector version 1.2, now supports Salesforce.com API version 25.
Web APIs are a enterprise's external persona that enable them to connect more easily with partners, and allow other companies to build businesses on top of the enterprise. WebSphere Cast Iron Live Web API Services provides a complete set of web API capabilities.
The new Web API allows rapid creation of new APIs from existing business assets or cloud services through configuration.
You can attract more partners and innovative application developers, both internally and externally.
The web API services provide capabilities for web API assembly, securing and scaling web APIs, analytics for business operations, and a developer portal to socialize the APIs.
You can try out a 90day free trial here http://webapi.castiron.com.
In WebSphere Cast Iron Cloud Integration, there are two types of connectors. They are primarily differentiated due to their internal implementation. They are:
Type I (aka Java) connectors like Salesforce.com, Domino, Siebel, SAP.
Type II (aka CDK) connectors like Force.comBulkAPI, SugarCRM, Taleo.
The difference between them being that the Type I connectors are built in Java, while the Type II connectors are built using a framework & the activities being implemented as a set of orchestrations. I plan to blog in detail later about this framework. As the list of Type II connectors is small, let me list them :-), you can assume the other connectors are Type I
Type II connectors, as of now, December 2011.
Oracle CRM OnDemand
Type II connectors are not available out of the box, they need to be downloaded from a repository. This repository is same as the TIPs repository. You'd need a community credential to login and download. If you don't have one, you can register here and pretty soon, you'd get your id created. So once you received your community id, in Studio preferences, go to Session Login and enter this URL: https://ciapps.castiron.com/SSO, under Server Name group. You can also save your community credentials, under Login information grouping. Then, click on Login, at the lower right corner, in Status view of Studio. Once you're authenticated, click on Solutions->Plugin connectors, which will open up a window of Available and Installed (Type II) connectors. You can then, select the connector you want to use and click Install. Once the installation is done (wont take more than few minutes), you can view this connector listed, under New endpoints.
This way, a Type II connector is installed and is available to use within Studio.

A very handy whitepaper on WPS 6.2 cluster configuration w/ Oracle as the backend. It gives all the steps right from OS setup to the final deployment environment creation along with screenshots. All the described steps were verified during a test on real systems in the IBM Böblingen test lab based on the following general available software versions:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3
WebSphere Process Server v6.2 (including Business Space)
Today morning, I received this note from one of my colleague. Very good one!
At 10 minutes to seven on a dark cool evening in Mexico City in 1968 John Stephen Akwari of Tanzania painfully hobbled into the Olympic Stadium -- the last man to finish the marathon .The winner had already been crowned, and the victory ceremony was long finished. So the stadium was almost empty as Akwari --alone, his leg bloody and bandaged--struggled to circle the track to the finish line.
The respected journalist Bud Greenspan watched from a distance. Then, intrigued, Bud walked over to Akwari and asked why he had continued the grueling struggle to the finish line.
The young man from Tanzania answered softly, "My country did not send me 9,000 miles to start the race. They sent me 9,000 miles to finish the race".
Attitude should be commitment to finish a task through to the end.
Couple of days back, I got a query from my customer on how to re-configure BPC in WPS (v6.1.2). The reason to do is at the time of profile creation the embedded derby database was used for the BPEDB. As its not a scalable DB, we had to point to another DB, Oracle in this case. Though this won't be a regular scenario, thought it would be helpful to point the same here. Even this might be useful when there is a change in DB vendor in your location and want to migrate to a new DB. Here are the steps:
First you need to stop and undeploy all your business process and human task applications.
Then run this nice bpeunconfig.jacl under (WPS_install_dir)\ProcessChoreographer\config. More on the same in WPS infocenter.
After successful running of the script (which undeploys the BPC related apps and resources), re-start the server and BPC is now available for new/fresh configuration.

IBM's 2008 Annual report is out now. As you might have heard earlier in our 4Q, 2008 earnings call, 2008 has a set of records for IBM: record revenue, record pre-tax earnings, record earnings per share, record free cash flow. Says IBM Chairman, Sam, In the last two decades, we have seen our planet become smaller and “flatter.” In the next two, we will see it become smarter. Very true! Check out below, to view the themes around which IBM is offering smart solutions, many of which are underway. Smart Planet, Think IBM!
A very useful tool from IBM, called SOMA ME, which help practioners on SOA engagements/projects, to create many artifacts like Service Model using SOMA. You can find an article on it at the IBM's System journal site here. Not to mention a famous quote: "A workman is known by his tools."
