The Mainframe continues to be the workhorse for many organisations; it deals with a diverse range of workloads including cloud, mobile and big data. Therefore, the mainframe hosts highly valuable data that is regarded by many as the crown jewels of the enterprise.

New STIG compliance checks for MQ with IBM Security zSecure Audit
Jeroen Tiggelman posted a summary of newly available STIG compliance checks for zSecure Audit 2.1.1 on the Service Management Connect - System z blog. The new checks are centered around IBM MQ for z/OS.

IBM Security zSecure Support is hosting an "Open Mic" webcast about the benefits of scheduling services in zSecure Admin. You can find the invitation here.
The purpose of the Open Mic Webcast series is for IBM Support to highlight topics of interest to clients through short presentations combined with the option of participating in a web chat with subject matter experts and/or asking questions at the end of the presentation.

Capabilities for timed and temporary authorizations are provided through the CKGRACF USER SCHEDULE and CKGRACF CMD AT commands. The CKGRACF program is a part of IBM Security zSecure Admin.

As this is the the first blog-entry of 2014, I wanted to wish you a very happy and prosperous new year!
I wanted to draw your attention to the short zSecure introduction demos that have been available for quite some time on the IBM Education Assistant website. They are intended to show some simple examples of using the ISPF user interface. Although these demos were originally prepared for the 1.11 version of zSecure Admin and Audit, they are still fine for the current version of the product.
