In this second of two related blog posts, Frederic Dahm, Systems Architect, shares his insight on revising Notes/Domino applications.
In Notes applications: Revising through consolidation, we examined how consolidating applications to fewer servers, either on-premises or on the cloud, is a means for unlocking new potential for your Notes/Domino environment. In this related post, let's look at extending or updating Notes applications.
Still within the Extend phase, if the applications are to be consolidated to the cloud, it is possible to use Bluemix, which is based on Cloud Foundry open technology and runs on SoftLayer. Bluemix supports several programming languages such as: Java, Node.js, Go, PHP, Python, Ruby on Rails and can be extended to support other languages as well.
As said in Part 1, the opportunity exists for Notes applications to leverage the full potential of new technologies and services, providing more features and more value to the business.
