Recently IBM announced the new IBM PureSystems family which are a set of expert systems for deploying and running your applications. They provide an easy way to create and deploy applications and have the complexity of installing and configuring the software left to the system itself.
While these managed applications are able to create instances of all the middleware components required to run, they can also connect to existing systems running outside of the PureSystems environment. Using this functionality it is possible to make use of existing CICS assets from these new systems.
If you are a CICS Transaction Gateway (CICS TG) customer then you can install the resource adapter into the PureSystems and connect your Web Application to the CICS TG which in turn is connected to CICS.
Alternatively if you are using Web Services then your Web Application can connect directly to the CICS server hosting the Web Service and access it from there.
Details of how to do all this are contained within the CICS TS Information Center here, and you can find out more about the new PureSystems announcement here.
