There’s a pool of newer z professionals out there who are just starting out on mainframe technology, and it’s not always easy being the ‘least experienced’ one in a skilled z team. If this sounds like you, or someone you know, read on (or send them the link!), because this is where the IBM Generation z group comes in.
IBM Generation z is a network of professionals with less than 5 years working on the mainframe, who want to meet like-minded individuals in the same boat – it’s open to all, made up of people from different companies all around the world, and exists as an online community, supported by social events at various conferences throughout the year.
We’ve kicked off Generation z’s 2015 with a push to get even more people involved and engaged online – growing the virtual network of peers who are only a click away. The hub is the Gen z Facebook group (https://ibm.biz/ibmgenz), open to all newer ‘framers. There’s fresh z content (and more irreverent topics) to be found here daily, with updates on events, but most of all, giving the opportunity to meet new people, share experiences and ask questions - helping members embrace all that working on the z Systems platform has to offer. Membership of the Facebook group is of course completely free, and you become part of a social group who are vocal in talking about life working on the modern mainframe.
There’s a lot more in plan for IBM Generation z this year. The new Facebook group will be supported by face-to-face meet ups and social events for Gen z at key conferences, such as IBM Edge and the z Technical University (https://ibm.biz/BdXdf3). Later in the year we’ll also be launching our new ‘Welcome to the Mainframe’ one day workshops at IBM client sites, bringing mainframe innovation to the fore to help professionals newer to mainframe technology get more out their career on z.
If this sounds good, then keep up with the conversation, and all the latest events and news by joining IBM Gen z on Facebook at https://ibm.biz/ibmgenz
