It is also required if you want to use mirrored pools. Which are pretty neat to control mirror and stripping without allot of management.

Thanks for another couple of informative blog posts, Chris. <div>&nbsp;</div> Since the conversion to scaleable volume groups requires the volume groups to be varied off, would it be better to use scaleable for all VGs we create from now on? Can you think of any disadvantage with doing that?

good blog this. so use to using chvg for factoring issues, never used it for the lv's.
