Remove some mystery with an ITNM BuildSeedList.pl discovery

I maintain a very active compost pile in my backyard. Much of my kitchen waste is recycled here creating a great soil additive I can use during the planting months. In the late spring small plants will sprout up from the compost, and rather than just turning this over, I transfer these seedlings into pots.
After one month in their own planter box I'm not sure if I'm going to have a fall pumpkin, zucchini or some yellow squash. Once I know I can break these out of this box and transplant them into a more suitable location.
An IBM Tivoli Network Manager discovery using an IP address seed file and scope file contains some mystery. The range of IP addresses to discover is known, but each IP within that range can be pinged. So if the discovery scope is a /24 network, like 192.168.1.0, /24, ITNM will ping the address range from 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.254. This creates some mystery about the discovery, and can definitely create a longer discovery if you don't know how many IP addresses in this range will be discovered.
Like the seedlings moving into their own pots, your discovery can also benefit from "building a seed".
In short, once a discovery is completed, the BuildSeedList.pl script is run creating a flat file of successfully discovered IP addresses from a previous discovery. If implemented, rather than sweep a range of IPs with ping, only the flat file is discovered, and combined with the Feedback sticher, new addresses are fed back to ITNM discovery making for faster discovery.
There are older technotes for the use of BuildSeedlist.pl like here
This information is valid, but note that the script is installed with 3.9 and can be found in the path
A discovery can be a growing changing entity!
