Get your hands dirty with Disco Data in ITNM 4.1

Discovery in 4.1 has changed. It has been moved to a SoldDB and the structure is identical to the Legacy NCIM topology database. Scratch Topology and all those oldies but goodies are gone.
Anyway, to cut to the chase, there is a handy way to access the database:
First, SoldDB username : root password : admin (super secret squirrel stuff here)
tip : view the $NCH
ncp_crypt -decrypt -password [str
Next, you need to stop NM and alter the listening port :
The manual says :
Edit the following file: $ITN
Change the following line:
Listen=tcpip -i127.0.0.1 port_number ; __DB_PORT_NUM__
Where port_number is a TCP/IP port number to read.
Restart Discovery engine, ncp_disco.
Actually, the file has the two options, the 127.0.0.1 (loopback) option is uncommented. The next line, commented, has no address specified, just the port. Comment out the loopback entry and use the line with no address. Restart (itnm_stop ncp...... itnm_start ncp)
After having run a discovery, (otherwise you wont see any data in the SolidDB) you can access it from the command line :
ncp_oql -domain domain_name -service dbId -dbId DNCIM -username db_username -password db_password
Now, if you'd like a more convenient way to hit that database and peruse the content, then SquirrelSQL is your new friend:
Get the SolidDb Driver from your NM Core server :
After that, these instructions will help you configure the driver and get access to the database.
