SOAs and web services evolve over time — new versions of services are deployed or brand new services must be integrated with existing clients. Typically, development effort must be expended to ensure that web service clients continue to work with the web service providers. IBM WebSphere Application Server V8.5.5 and IBM Rational Application Developer V9.0 introduce service mapping, a feature that enables you to remove the dependence of the service client on both the location and interface of the service provider via the interception, routing, and transformation of requests and responses between service clients and service providers.
