The AnalyticsZone is very excited to announce Greta as our winner of the Driving Insight with Insight contest!
Greta created a unique and compelling IBM Cognos Insight application centered around the Chicago Transit Authority, the public transportation system in the city of Chicago. Greta's application was exceptional providing enlightening insights on local bus and train scheduling directly linked to related crime statistics. Also, included in this application is a Trip Planner and Fare Tracker! Not only is it a fun application to explore with its excellent visualizations but it also can be used as a value-added resource if you ever were to plan travel around the city of Chicago!
Of the submissions we received for this contest Greta's application certainly wasn't the only one that was first rate. Yes, in this contest we had a number of superior entries - 12 in total - all worthy of taking home the medal; that medal being a brand new 2013 Honda Insight! You read that correctly - the winner gets the keys to a brand new 2013 Honda Insight! Pretty cool, huh?!?
(The photo to the left is me handing Greta the keys to her new Honda Insight.)
To briefly recap the contest timeline, contestants simply needed to create an IBM Cognos Insight application from scratch submitting it to the AnalyticsZone by January 31, 2013. (Our free downloadable solution, IBM Cognos Insight available on the AnalyticsZone was all you needed to participate in this contest.) Following this submission period, voting on the entries began immediately thereafter running thru February 28th.
Who voted on the submissions, you ask?
It was the AnalyticsZone community members!
Greta Brauer's contest entry received the most community-generated votes ahead of the other 11 top-class entries we received. Great job community members!
Greta was, by the way, kind enough to give us a first hand overview of her winning application which I've included below. Besides walking us through her Cognos Insight app, Greta also tells us how she got started using Cognos Insight and what went into developing her submission.

As mentioned earlier, the Driving Insight with Insight Contest participants all produced excellent entries. We even had one contestant - Sanjeev Datta, author of the book, IBM Cognos Insight - who submitted an allowed 3 applications. Great job, Sanjeev! All three of his applications were exceptional as well. We also want to give special mention to our contest's runner-up, Andrew Dire, who developed a well-designed and creative Corporate Analysis Dashboard - Apple Cognos Insight application. Nice job, Andrew!
